What we are hiring for right now.

Two routes in: the litigation trainee programme for law students and graduates, and an internship for everyone else. Everything at this firm, including pupillage, follows from them.

Litigation Trainee, Part-time

Part-time, 8am to 12pm · RM250 a week · an optional early class · the required pathway to pupillage

What you will do

  • Legal research on live matters, set by the lawyer running the file
  • Draft correspondence, submissions and first drafts of court documents
  • Prepare case files, bundles, chronologies and evidence summaries
  • Attend client meetings, take notes and follow up on actions
  • Attend court and assist on active matters

What we look for

  • An LLB or equivalent, completed, or currently being completed with exams finished
  • CLP, Bar or LLM welcome but not required
  • Clear, structured written reasoning. This matters most
  • Genuine interest in litigation and commercial practice
  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply

Intern

The internship is for capable people from other backgrounds. There is no timed assessment for this route. You write a little about yourself, attach a CV, and someone at the firm reads it. It does not lead to pupillage, and we say that plainly rather than let anyone assume otherwise.

We do not accept direct pupillage applications through this site. Every pupil at Thomas Philip has first come through the litigation training programme and the paralegal role. It gives you a real view of the work before you commit, and it gives us a real view of you beyond a transcript.
